About our group:

This role will report to the Engineering Manager in the controller firmware group at Seagate. The Firmware SoC Integration team stages firmware changes needed to support new System-on-Chip controller ASIC devices, and validates hardware behavior of new and modified IP blocks through extensive testing, both in test process and operational drive environments. The code configurations developed by the team are used by other teams across the firmware organization to bring up new products. This team works closely with other teams inside and outside of the firmware organization, and across multiple sites.

About the role - you will:

* Work with teams across the organization to gather requirements for new hardware operation
* Analyze, design, program, debug and modify HDD firmware
* Often work with analog and digital hardware and software operating systems
* Often rely on your knowledge and exposure to hardware design
* Program in C and some assembly code programming is required

About you:

* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Solid C language programming skills
* Knowledge about software engineering, computer architecture, memory technologies, data structure and algorithms
* Strong software programming and debugging skills with the use of hardware and software tools, and test equipment

Your experience includes:

* You have moderate software programming and debugging skills with the use of hardware and software tools, and test equipment to deliver high quality, high-performance firmware for Seagate
* Experience in Hardware & firmware interaction, firmware development
* Solid C language programming experience
* Good understanding of analysis, design, debug and firmware modification
* Knowledge of software engineering, computer architecture, memory technologies, data structure and algorithms
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related degree and 0+ years experience

You might also have:


* Good understanding of Storage domain (SATA/SAS), with hardware resources like DMAs, Buses, UARTs, memories, and storage protocol: SAS or SATA
* Good understanding on protocol analyzers, logic analyzers
* Good understanding of Python programming

Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $62,700-$89,700. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills.
