Overview: The Sales Engineer is responsible for working with the Business Development team to provide expertise and support product presentations, demonstrations and attending industry conferences that result in winning new business and retaining and increasing revenue of existing clients. The incumbent in this role interacts with the Business Development, Operations and Technical teams to coordinate the approach and content to support the execution of the sales strategy. This role will also assist with RFIs/RFPs responses and partnership with business solutions and sales teams to strategize sales approaches and ensure attainment of sales revenue goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation and execution of demos, proposals and presentations;
  • Coordinate the preparation of meeting materials including presentation decks and product demos;
  • Communicate consistently with Technical Solutions to ensure the availability of demo environments and version updating for products;
  • Complete independent configuration of product(s) as part of the preparation for demos;
  • Provides broad scope responses to products and industry questions. Demonstrates advanced business solution knowledge and effective, pro-active prospective client communications;
  • Understands the prospects business model in order to clarify the strategic fit of our product into their environment;
  • Works with the business development team to analyzes client business needs and market developments to help develop sales strategies based on their product knowledge, client's current business and on how Inovalon and product offerings can meet client needs and provide unsurpassed value;
  • Advises business development on functional aspects of company products including fit to client's needs, features, availability, etc.;
  • Actively maintains knowledge of products to support presentations virtually and or at prospective client site; and
  • Responsible for helping to compile a library for answering product functionality, technical, integration, and usage, and pre-sales support concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement;
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position; and
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Employer.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years in sales engineering providing excellent client experiences;
  • Product knowledge needed to fulfill the identified duties and responsibilities;
  • Advanced knowledge and usage of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word);
  • Must have the ability to build relationships and have a proactive communication style ensuring timely status of complex projects;
  • Able to develop relationships and communicate with business, technical staff and management;
  • Understanding of solutions, technology, sales cycles, and solution selling process, preferably at multiple levels related to company products;
  • Able to learn internal company systems and understand complex solutions;
  • Ability to prioritize, work independently and as part of a team and work well under pressure with tight deadlines. Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Must be detail oriented;
  • Must have an intermediate understanding of company financial measures;
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational capabilities; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; and
  • Bachelor's degree in business, sales or relevant field of study is strongly preferred.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary work (i.e., sitting for long periods of time);
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
  • Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
  • Travel for this position will be approximately 50% for tradeshows and/or customer visits.

The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At Inovalon, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

Base Compensation Range
$78,000$85,000 USD
