LOCATION: Northwest Valley Corps

STATUS: FTE/40 hours/wk

MISSION STATEMENT:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Experience in Salvation Army programs.
  • CDL license or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to complete documentation accurately in a timely manner, possess time management skills and be able to work independently
  • Be organized and detail oriented.
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Possess a thorough working knowledge of, and give competent instruction in, Salvation Army doctrine.
  • Retain a valid driver's license, be able to drive Salvation Army vehicles and pass all necessary background checks. (7 passenger car, 14 passenger bus, 25 passenger bus)
  • Recruit, and supervise volunteers to assist in leading youth programs.
  • Keep all troop supplies purchased, replenished and organized.
  • Lead Youth worship & Bible Studies.
  • Work with kitchen crew on snacks and meals so that they may plan accordingly.
  • Pick up and take children home before and after programs as necessary.
  • Develop quality programs for youth.
  • Outreach to youth and their families to support & grow the youth group.
  • Keep statistics for all youth programs.
  • Assist with Kettles and/or Christmas Angels programs as necessary.
  • Must learn, be aware of, implement and observe all "Protecting the Mission" policies. (Salvation Army internal child safety procedures.)
  • Must be a motivated self starter who is a team player and dependable.
  • Ability to work and conduct business in a professional manner.
  • Be willing to work in other areas of the Corps when necessary.
  • Attend assigned staff meetings.
  • When requested, assist with planning and execution of special projects to include community fairs, vacation bible school, and/or promotional events.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
