What you'll do:

The Sr Financial Risk Analyst is part of the second line of defense in Corporate Risk reporting to the ALM Risk Director and Head of Financial Risk Management (FRM). The individual is a key strategic partner that will help shape strategic decisions and delivering on goals associated with financial risk and control framework.
More specifically, this person will help develop target state risk and control operating model for FRM and directly support FRM on all key BAU and Transformation risk and control deliverables and engagements that are cascaded from Enterprise Risk Management functions.

What we are looking for:

As a Sr Financial Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for overseeing and challenging risks related to asset and liability management and more specifically earnings at risk due to changes in interest rates. Your expertise and analysis will contribute to maintaining a robust risk management framework and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of banking experience and possess strong technical skills, including working with data and reporting tools.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Monitoring financial risk management practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Review and challenge balance sheet assumptions developed by the ALM team including the use of management judgement in the process.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of asset and liability management risks, identifying potential vulnerabilities and documenting risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with second line of defense management and first line counterparts across the organization, including Treasury, Finance, Risk and Compliance, to provide risk oversight and ensure alignment with risk management objectives.
  • Utilize data and reporting tools to perform risk analysis, scenario testing, and stress testing to assess the impact on the organization under various market conditions.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for management, and other stakeholders, effectively communicating risk exposures, trends, and recommendations.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks in financial risk management.

What You Will Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, CFA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of five years of banking experience, with a strong understanding of a Bank's balance sheet.
  • Proficient in working with data and reporting tools, such as Excel or business intelligence platforms.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and guidelines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build effective relationships across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
